York, UK’s The Bastard Sons have announced that their new EP, Roads, will be released on March 10th via Kaiju Records. This is the bands follow up to 2012’s debut EP Bones. The band take songwriting inspiration not from their own lives, but from history, both real and fictional (as in Winter, a track about the Stark family from Game of Thrones). Frontman JJ said this about the bands lyrics:
“Lyrically I don’t write about my life, because who gives a fu*k about a nearly thirty-something guy from York? I write about things that have happened, history…Not as a lesson because that seems self-righteous, but things that aren’t about me. There’s been loads of teenage angst bands, and everyone’s sick of hearing it. I’m starting to write a lot more stuff about what’s happening now.”
To celebrate the upcoming release of Roads, the band are streaming Raise the Horse via soundcloud.
