Newcastle, UK’s TV Death have today released their latest single, Lease of Life, that is taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Neon Dreamland, which is due out on the 21st August through Dogged Sound Records. TV Death have carved a distinctive niche with their raw energy and sonic experimentation that is reminiscent of the sensual anarchy of bands like The Cramps and The Birthday Party.

“‘Lease of Life’ was born in the cracks between exhaustion and hope. At the time, I was caught in the grind of a job that left me hollow. Late nights, long commutes, and a growing sense that I was drifting further from any real purpose. Everyone around me seemed to be moving forward, while I felt stuck, quietly rebelling against the idea that your worth is defined by your job. What kept me going was writing. I remember, in the middle of the chaotic, last-minute prepping for our last EP’s music videos, paint probably spattered across my face, a half finished prop in hand, I picked up my guitar, and the riff just spilled out like a breath I didn’t know I was holding. The verses echo lyrics from an old demo about the monotony of consumerism and work, an apt reflection of how I had felt. But in the chorus, that weight lifts. Those same words take on a brighter meaning, giving them a new lease of life. It’s a song about reclaiming purpose, finding meaning beyond what the world tells you should matter and discovering your own ‘Lease of Life’ in the most unexpected places.” (frontman Jack Burlison)
