Wimps are at it again with City Lights, another slacker punk moshterpiece ready for the internet to gobble up. Offering stark and playful wordage that is melded with minimalist hooky riffage to cover such prescient topics as the rise of ubiquitous ai, loneliness, growing inequality and the loss of community and self, a yearning for a return to a feral past, pollution and climate terrorism, creating life and promising a maybe undeliverable hope to that life during an unceasing pandemic, among other daily mundanity. Wimps have also unveiled the video for the track Lake Washington to celebrate.

City Lights may well stand as an artifact of humanity in a time of increasingly glossed and flawed expression. An imperfect, live, energetic, human statement made by a trio of imperfect, mostly alive, yet rapidly deteriorating early 40s bit players of various Seattle whos and whats of a time long ago and soon to be forgotten.

“For the past 2 years, we have thrown a free community concert at Seward Park, which is a public space on the banks of Lake Washington, a favorite summertime spot for us. These shows were especially meaningful for us during the pandemic when we were feeling isolated from our friends. We got sent some great cell phone footage after the fact and thought it would make a great video, so here it is!” (bassist Matt Nyce)
