Our Gang's Dark Oath - Dead Teenager Records
You’ve probably never heard the name Aiden before. I know I never knew it before a friend of mine pointed them out to me on Purevolume. But after one listen to them, I was hooked; and you will be too.
I don’t know any background information on Aiden. I don’t know where they are from, although I am presuming Seattle, I don’t know if they’ve released any other releases, I don’t even know when Our Gangs Dark Oath was even released. But I don’t need to know that, Aiden are well worth the listen without knowing any background information on them. The eleven tracks cover a wide range of musical stylings, which makes it hard to classify. They have screaming vocals, even dueling screaming vocals at times, along with regular singing vocals, and even some whispers. Whatever they are doing, it fits. The tone ranges from high energy, sing along, screaming songs, to fast punk rock songs, to a secret acoustic ballard. And once again, each style fits. The guitar breakdowns are amazing, and listening to their music, you wonder how they haven’t blown up yet? Each song gets you energized and grabs you with its unique style. They never repeat the same thing or become repetitive, which makes the CD even better.
There are only two downsides to the album. The first is that they don’t have all the lyrics to their songs, the second is that there is around a 12 minute break between the last song, World By Storm, and the secret acoustic track. That gap is just annoying! There should only be around a 30 second gap instead. But just remember to keep your eyes open for the name of Aiden, because they will blow up soon.
So now you know the name of Aiden, so please, never forget it. One listen to Our Gangs Dark Oath and you won’t be able to forget even if you tried.
