Neon Satellites - Speedowax Records

DiabloFurs are a five piece Noise Pop or Pop n Roll outfit based in the Nottingham area, in the past year they have seen their brand of Punk/New Wave go from strength to strength, with live shows being the place they seem to be at at their most energetic and full of musical life. With a main stage appearance at Rebellion Festival, Undercover Festival and Introducing Stage performances to name a few under their belt in 2019. Being played on BBC 6 music was also a highlight of the past year, building on this is something a band with so much potential are drawn to do, hence Neon Satellites is to be their first full length and is due to be released February 14th on Speedowax Records.

With 3 singles releases already out in the world and being received with plenty of adulation from the music world, this forthcoming 11 track album addition hits the jukebox running, “Chase The Beat” kicks off with a fuzzy rock bass line that sets you up for what is about to unfold and a ride your not gonna wanna get off until the last beat of the power filled drums or the hooks and riffs splashed around by a delightful keyboard addition to a sound that can rival any huge stadium filling bands, but would also not be out of place in the likes of CBGB’s or The Marque.

Taking you on a musical rollercoaster that has no brakes, is one way to describe this wonderful fun loving get your dancing shoes on album.  From track to track your never left feeling let down, imagine sitting in the car ready for a long motorway drive, you slide this cd into your player and set off, before you know it you have probably had it on repeat for 3 hours and discovered even more layers than just the initial pop Smash Hits almost feel to some of the songs, “The Pressure Don’t Stop” would not have been out of place on Top Of The Pops for example but then you have “Mr Hedburg”, “Rival Girls” or “Dreaming” all of which have so much depth and rock/indie influence along with lyrics that speak of the world we live in.

Saying that this 11 track slice of music is simply refreshing and wonderful may not resonate with all who pick it up, but with a line like “I Gotta Find That Fun That Keeps My Heart Alive” this on the final track “Meteors” sums up the whole feeling of the album, a work of love from a group that need to be watched out for in the coming year.

Punk Rock/New Wave can be light and fun but also make statements!
