Through Love And Death You're All I Have Left - Side Mission Records

Sequestered in the far north-eastern coastal wilds of Fraserburgh, Scotland, Dude Trips sound draws from much wider and more varied influences than their origins in a remote sleepy seaside town might suggest. Dude Trips will release their debut album, Through Love & Death, You’re All I Have Left, on 31st May 2019 via Side Mission Records, their debut full length follows on from their two EP’s, Sad Lads and Keepsake. Through Love & Death, You’re All I Have Left serves as the band’s first real fully formed piece of studio work, whilst it’s a much weightier affair than their previous records it retains the raw emotion of their earlier releases

Blank Canvas kicks off Through Love & Death, You’re All I Have Left in a low key confessional style and slowly builds in intensity before gently fading out, in comparison In Between Days launches straight in with a stomping drum beat before easing back on the throttle. Through Love & Death, You’re All I Have Left appears to be settling into a rut of waves of raw intense emotive emo driven pop punk that give way subtler passages in the songs but this presumption is swiftly shattered. Documentaries, 91 and Subbuteo are fine cuts of raw pop punk whilst Sunday Club comes across as an emotive Scottish Weezer, these are contrasted by the mellower and more introspective side through tracks such as Tampa Bay, Kit and &, with everything slowly building towards the albums title track and epic finale.

Through Love & Death, You’re All I Have Left follows in the tradition of raw honest Scottish bands that wear their emotions on their sleeves, whilst I doubt that this will please all the people all of the time there is certainly something on Dude Trips debut full length for pretty much anyone who considers themselves a fan of the current buoyant indie, emo and pop punk scenes. Dude Trips will also be embarking on a UK headline tour this Summer in support of Through Love & Death, You’re All I Have Left, with a special release show kicking things off on 8th June at Tunnels in Aberdeen.
