Resistance - Facedown Records
Lately I’ve been burdened by shitty music to be reviewed. With the likes of Crash Romeo and The Bleeding Alarm coming in the mail, one might say that I could be much happier with music I’m recieiving. Then, The Unseen come to town, and after picking Bobby up, he hands me this CD. It’s a Facedown release, and I’ve come to expect a lot from them and the bands they sign. This band restored some of my lost faith in the music scene, even though I would consider them more metal then anything else, they sound great. There’s very heavy vocals to be heard, not really sure what to compare them too though. There’s some pretty neat guitar riffs, I noticed a lot that would insight throwing down and circle pits. The drumming has the same deal, it’s made for the throw down. The double kick gets going extremely fast too, it’s rather impressive. The bass doesn’t seem to be too complex, it just kind of plays along with the drum beat. At least it’s audible, unlike many other bands that I listen to. The lyrics aren’t that bad, they kind of fall inbetween songs about hatred for other people and songs about integrity and such. I feel obligated to mention one of my favorite moments while listening to this cd. During the first song, The Resistance, the music slows down and you can feel a throwdown beat coming, then the vocalist yells “go!” and there’s a double kick pattern that you can feel, just because it was recorded that way. When I was listening to it in my vehicle I could feel the air vibrate on my leg, it was pretty cool. It pretty much sums up the rest of the songs on the album, the music was made to be danced to.
If you’re into metal or all this new hardcore, then I’d definitely recommend picking up this album, or at least looking for a few songs by them on the internet. Lately, I haven’t really liked the whole metalesque sound, but I can listen to every song on this cd without growing bored. I’d also recommend checking out some other Facedown bands, they’ve got a pretty good line-up of bands going for them right now.
