Mad Daddy

EP #3 - Self-Release

Mad Daddy are “a four piece band of misfits, polluting the airwaves of the Isle of Man and beyond with their high octane rock ‘n’ roll punk blues since 2015.” Unsurprisingly, EP #3 is their third EP, their first since 2018. Citing influences as disparate as John Lee Hooker, Motorhead and The Ramones, the band deliver a cocktail of instantly identifiable grooves with a scuzzy aftertaste.

The tracks on offer here strut, sneer and swing confidently – ‘Give It To Me’ adds swagger to the classic three-chord trick, ‘Just You Wait And See’ is a crunchy blues gallop, and ‘Some Fun’ opens with a rockabilly twang before it shifts into a swaying dirty fuzz. Throughout, the band has fun with the execution of what could be considered as ‘standard’ arrangements: vocalist Dolyn Clucas-Morris wails on his harmonica, there’s some neat lead breaks from guitarist Liam Callow, while bassist Elvis (James) and drummer Matt Twist keep the dive-bar rhythms rolling..

Like souped-up boogies you can shake your hips to? EP #3 is available via Bandcamp alongside their two previous releases. Mad Daddy have pages on both Facebook and Twitter.
