Eve 6

It's All In Your Head - RCA Records

Eve 6 is here with their third full length album on RCA Records. With a dozen songs ready to spin in your CD player, It’s All In Your Head shows us exactly what a band can do if giving the time to actually sit down and think about what they are doing.

In each infectious pop-rock song there is always one thing that stands out above the rest: the vocals. Everyone in the trio adds their vocal talents with bassist Max Collins leading the way. The fact that they use three vocalists is normally inapparent in their songs, but in reality it adds a little extra punch in most of the choruses. Covering a wide spectrum of things, Max Collin’s heartfelt lyrics touch on subjects as powerful as rape and suicide to subjects like lies and girls .Certain portions of the songs are very simple and catchy, even to the point that you find yourself singing along with the words the second or third time you hear the song; while other times they are more complex and much faster, so you find yourself reaching for the lyric book and searching for the correct lyrics.

Most of the tracks have a jumpy, high tempo feel to it; which in turn makes the songs more enjoyable and memorable. Unfortunately, not all the songs are like that. Exactly halfway through the album we get toHey Montana, a much slower song lasting just over 5 minutes. This track really slows down the album and puts it to almost a complete stop. I quite often find myself skipping over it as soon as it starts playing, which is in no way a good sign. I guess that’s what happens when you record at three in the morning. Although that song really ruins the vibe of the album, you soon get over it and return to enjoying the album.

It may not be in your head right now, but one thing is certain: after listening to Eve 6 a couple times, they will surely take up residences in your head.
