Jesse Lebourdais / Jon Creedon

Home 7" - My Fingers! My Brains! Records

Canadian acoustic punks Jon Creedon and Jesse Lebourdais (of Vancoucer punk band Cambridge) have joined forces for a split 7″ titled Home, due out on December 10th via My Fingers! My Brains! Records.

First up is Jesse Lebourdais’  Burnt Out Frame, a slightly haunting song which does wonders to showcases his excellent vocals. The simple arrangement featuring just a guitar and piano works well and lays a perfect foundation for his obvious storytelling talent. The lyrics take us on a journey to find home, through reflection on life’s mistakes and relationships along the path. A really beautiful song, delivered with brutal honesty and passion.

Jon Creedons’ Decaying Cities is slightly faster paced, almost reminiscent of an upbeat Mumford and Sons song (but with less tweed). The lyrical story here is pretty simple, following a soul, searching to find their place in the world and although it won’t win any awards for originality, it is delivered with a sense of urgency that is almost unexpected. On its own this track would likely feature heavily in rotation, but against the phenomenal offering from Jesse Lebourdais, it clearly plays second fiddle here.

Overall a couple of very good songs, well deserving of a pre order (available here).
