Sheer Terror Unleash “Squat Diddler” Single
On the eve on their May 2026 European Tour, NYC's SHEER TERROR have released their new single, Squat Diddler, that…
My Love, My Way - Deathwish Inc.
I remember a few months ago I had to write a review for the album that followed My Love My Way up, it happens to be entitled Witness and I didn’t really like it. But shortly after I wrote my review for it I slowly kept coming across more and more reviews that only had good things to say about it. I still cannot understand it, and it wasn’t just anyone writing about how great it was, some of the better known reviewers were loving that cd. I guess that it received so much good press that Deathwish records decided to re-release Modern Life Is War’s lesser known album that came out before. It’s a bit better than Witness, but one of the two things I didn’t like about it can be heard on this cd too. Although the songs don’t all sound like one really long outro, I still found the vocals annoying. There’s something about the style this band has that I really don’t like, and I think it may have something to do with the beat. The rhythm they tend to play with just seems to get on my nerves, although other people seem to love it. But during a few songs they play pretty quick and I don’t mind it, but like I stated in my review of their other cd, there’s other bands I’d rather listen to. It’s what made Witness collect dust on my computer desk and it’s probably going to happen to this album as well. But I’ll admit that this band is very unique, I haven’t really heard anything that sounds like them. But that isn’t completely a good thing, the music at times can move along at painfully slow paces or it will feel like it’s supposed to end at any given moment. But the worst feeling I got from it is the music seems to be building towards something that just never comes. It happens in every song and eventually the cd became harder and harder to last through, until the last three songs, they’re pretty good. They have a nice fast pace and I’m sure they could really get a crowd moving, but unfortunately, I really don’t think it makes up for the rest of the cd entirely.
If you liked Witness, chances are you’ll probably enjoy this cd as well, it’s not that much different, I just found it was faster. I know that I wouldn’t have bought this if I saw it in a cd store somewhere, there’s hundreds of albums I’d rather get and quite a few on Deathwish that I’d like to get my hands on. Modern Life is War just doesn’t really do it for me though, whatever that means, I’ll probably just give this away to someone that will enjoy it more, because I know those people exist. Or at least that’s what I’ve been led to believe after finding out that this bands following is growing pretty quickly. I don’t really know what to tell you, check them out, I’m sure they’re on myspace or some internet mp3 hosting web page, every band seems to be nowadays.
