Eat Your Feelings - Self Released

Gonna start by shortening the bands name to OLIC just because I’m lazy and typing the full name will give me a headache in no time, but that’s not to say this new album from this London based Skate/Pop/Hardcore/Emo Punk band.  This I believe is their second full album, the last being back in 2008, this isn’t to say they have been hiding in their bedrooms, although this album did take around seven years to write.

What’s pretty damned apparent when you dive he’d long into this album is the title seems to be taken damned literally, as in the lyrical content takes some hard raw emotions, feelings, and thoughts to their highest extremes. From hitting play and being rapped around the head by a baseball bat of an opening chorus, it leaves you in no doubt that this isn’t an album for the faint of heart of weak of personality. Take NOFX throw them into a blender with Four Year Strong and you’ll be somewhere close to what comes flying at your ears throughout this no holds barred banger of an album. An album where songs like ‘Dead Legends’ takes a no fucks given look at how cashing in on the dead and famous is done with no remorse whatsoever, and played with just as much venom as the subject deserves. ‘Selective History’ the, oh fuck I’m getting old and lazy, but Its not like anybody died!, a world where nothing is fought for, it’s just there, or at least that’s what I thought it was about lyrically, but musically its a nail gun to the heart, so who cares….

With pure love this is an album that’s been written, played, and sung, and just like the love you give to everything good in your life, this album gives almost all to everything bad, with a little set aside for the self aware humour. It’s a set of songs that look squarely into the eyes of its writers, sees all that’s happened or might happen and puts it to some fire breathing guitars and thunderous drums.

Out now….  Go drop some love in your ears and eyes on BANDCAMP and FACEBOOK
