Straight Edge Revenge - Bridge Nine Records

This is easily one of the most erratic albums I’ve ever heard. It had hardly any melody, a crappy recording, but for some reason it’s still fairly good. I would probably attribute this to how straight edge this band is, hence the name, the album name, the lyrics, etc. It was actually funny to listen to, probably because they came off as violently edge. Being straight edge is surely not something to laugh at, and don’t ever forget that. If I’ve learned anything from seeing straight edge people dance at shows, its that they will spin kick you for mocking them. But anyways, the band comes off as if it has a lack of talent but they have members from Judge, Youth Of Today, Side By Side, Gorilla Biscuits, and Warzone. So its very probable that they have the ability to play better. After all, this is hardcore before it mixed with metal, so there’s no double kick, no fancy riffs, simple bass lines, and erratic vocals. The songs really are quite simple, the guitarist doesn’t play anything technical, so its only a few power chords. The bass player is audible to me for once, but he only plays a few different notes every song. The drummer does sound somewhat epic though, he doesn’t play his snare very much, so the beat is low pitched. There’s a few live songs on the album as well, which were really not too good. The recording just gets worse once it goes live, and the band plays their instruments a little crappier. But this band would really make for one intense show.

But this is hardcore and straight edge history, so I’d definitely recommend it even if it could have sounded a lot better. It might be a little hard to get hold of, but I’m sure ordering it from bridge nine isn’t completely out of the question.
