Factually Correct - Horn & Hoof Records
“So who is Sally Pepper?” I hear most of you say, well so did I when this EP landed in my email, well for a moment or two anyway, I was then sure that somewhere in the near past I’d possibly heard her or even seen her. Turns out that I didn’t have to wait long to actually hear her play live, the vey first act I walked into at Rebellion Festival this year was non other than Sally Pepper on the Almost Acoustic Stage. So lets fill you all in on what I know, which isn’t that much actually, Sally is one of a few up and coming singer song writers, who have taken what might essentially be a folk experience and added the punk venom, a kind of mix between Billy Bragg & Louise Distras I’d say, yet with Sally you can also hear the faint rumblings of pop punk and a strain of harder stuff when she does the full band songs.

Having been releasing material since about 2012 I believe, the Factually Correct EP comes at time when the punk music scene needs a little kick to the arse and there are plenty others knocking at the door to do so, Sally is near the top of this list of artists to excite and break holes in said door.
Five tracks, three acoustic and two full band are what await you when you slide this cd into your player (on drop the play button on your digital player), ‘Cliffs’ kicks us right off with a song of hope and perseverance, the words “sometimes you gotta pray the waters deep enough”, when you jump I guess is what this alludes to, says enough to make this song totally understood, a stunningly perfect vocal over a melody laden musical wonder is what I heard here!
Next up is the full on punk attitude and truth spitting ‘Clickbait’, musically an acoustic guitar spits out venom enough, this is backed up by Sally’s angst filled vocal, this is a song that feels like it comes from the head and the heart, the first line “so you read it on the internet, so it must be factually correct” followed by later on “your not racist cos you got a friend who’s black” are eye opener as to what the fuck is actually happening out there in the world of media fed bullshit. Followed up by ‘Classic Me’ we are now being made fully aware that Sally is a writer and singer who writes and records what affects and happens around her life, a song of how being normal is a point of view thing.
‘Cliffs’ and ‘Classic Me’ end the EP, this is a peek at what to hopefully expect from what could be the best live shows you’ll ever see/hear when they happen! Next years Rebellion Festival take note for your line up! This is where you should be heading into the future to keep alive.
Bold, brilliant and totally fucking real, music that slaps you around the head and says ‘listen now, or just crawl back into that dark corner’ move over the old guard, something fresh and big is coming through!
Out on 1st August, you can go and enhance your life by buying this EP at Bandcamp And Via Horn & Hoof Records
