EP II - Self Released
South Florida’s Death Lottery have just dropped their sophomore release, EP II, digitally via Bandcamp, the band are also planning to self-release a limited run seven inch single in mid October featuring the five songs from EP II. Death Lottery will also be touring the southern states of the USA in November in support of their latest release, so it looks like the quartet are ramping things up for the end of 2018 ready to launch themselves into 2019.
Having not encountered Death Lottery before the first track is always going to be important for that initial impression of a new release, so it’s just as well that 12th Meal (Mosers Lament) is a fine frantic two minutes of lo-fi garage punk that sets the pace perfectly for what’s to come on EP II. Every track on Death Lottery‘s sophomore release clocks in at around the two minute mark so there is no room for introspection, this is balls out garage rock as it oughta be played, from intense ragged garage rockers like Jesus Does What He Does Wants and Wolf’s Bud through the frantic surf tinged punk of Tequila w/ Sammy Hagar and the primal closing track, Future Caveperson.
Those amongst you who have any love for the likes of The Two Tens, Ghost Wolves and The Hives are sure to find Death Lottery‘s latest release to be their taste as they have released a fine five track sophomore EP. Whilst EP II might be done and dusted in ten minutes, every single track is delivered with the kind of reckless abandon that indicates that this is a release that will be guaranteed to appeal to fans of raw unprocessed garage punk.
