Slick Shoes

The Biggest and the Best - Tooth & Nail Records

Tooth & Nail Records have combined a 18 track album documenting the ups and down of one of their biggest bands: Slick Shoes. With three new and unreleased tracks on the album and 15 of the most popular tracks from all their T&N releases (none from their latest Side One Dummy Release Far From Nowhere), Slick Shoes shows the world why they are The Biggest & The Best.

If you have followed the band at all, you should know that they have had many, many lineup changes. Drummer Joe Nixon even says that they’ve had more line up changes then “black Sabbath, and menudo combined”. But even with all their changes, they have kept a pretty steady sound throughout. Of course, Slick Shoes are more then one dimension. They have many different sound styles; just listen to the first three tracks (all new and unreleased) and you can tell. Pretend To Be The Same is a short, faced paced song with some slower moments mixed in; Ruled Out is a much slower, softer, calmer song and finally, you have Spleen Puncher, a nice mix of the two.

The Biggest & The Best has a great collection of songs from their entire career on Tooth & Nail Records. It really gives you a good feel of what they have done over the past 8 years. One thing for sure is that if you aren’t certain about your opinions about this band, this album will easily solve it for you.
