The Domestics

East Anglian Hardcore - Kabou Records

The Domestics are I believe an (I know the title says it ok) ‘East Anglian Hardcore’ Punk band who formed back in 2011 and their last album ‘Cherry Blossom Life’ was back in 2017, the line “Stay Punk, stay DIY, Nazi punks fuck off” sticks in the mind as a reason to believe in what they say and do.

Does this latest album stand up to be counted among this bands other work, of course it does.  If your thing is soft and gentle ballads or anarchy in the suburbs, then your definitely in the wrong place here, your ears are gonna be pummelled until they submit with pure unadulterated hardcore punk that spares no quarter when it comes to the bastards who call themselves your government, self serving multi million pound retail giants ‘Purchases’, fucking gutless cowardly bastards who beat on their partners “its coz I luv ya”  ‘You Old Romantic’, or the whole world that drives a human to despair with it pressures to be not what you are, and not forgetting the Nazi fascist scum that still walk this earth.

And if your wondering should you listen to this album, well that’s your choice, that’s what punk was and is all about, but you ain’t gotta do is ignore what this band say, its the only reason I like this kind of hardcore, because for fuck sake, its not about the music really is it?, or is that me just being old and knackered in the ears, maybe.  All that said, The Domestics do have a thing all of their own, a musical intersection keeps cropping up here and there, like a volcano spewing high notes of molten guitar every now and then.

This review probably took longer to read than this 14 track album takes to listen to, so let’s call it a day and let you go and split the atom with your fist whilst thrusting it into the air during every song!

Available from June 30th via Kabou Records
