The Horrorpops

Hell Yeah! - Hellcat records

Horrorpops, the six piece band from Germany and Denmark, have finally released their debut full length album after recording it over a period of two years. Their unique sound is unlike anything you hear now a days. Mixing pop-punk with ska, with new wave reggae, with psychobilly, with the 70’s “Grease Lightning” feel and even some good old ghoul punk melodies can be found in the mixture. So Brody Dalle step aside, Patricia and the Horrorpops are ready to take your thrown away from you.

The Horrorpops‘ three female members add a little extra flare to the band by breaking the conventional punk rock “rules”. Patricia, the lead singer, uses a highly decorated upright bass rather then the average bass you find in other bands while Kamilla and Mille are the “go-go” dancers of The Horrorpops, while adding some “woahs” and other background vocals to the mix at certain points during the tracks. The remaining band members finish the band off perfectly with intertwining melodies and layered background vocals; turning each and every song into a retro-classique.

Their sound is diverse and incomparable. It brings many bands to mind: Tiger ArmyThe Distillers, Rev. Horton Heat and many more. They have a high energy, toe-tapping feel, all backed up with catchy vocals and “woahs” in the background. Many fans of the John Travolta hit movie “Grease” will quickly fall in love with Horrorpops for their swing dancing familiarity they create.

Overall, Horrorpops‘ debut album, Hell Yeah!, will have you uttering “hell yeah!” after the first listen.
