I Know The Future - Thousand Islands Records

You know, I actually have no idea how long this female fronted punk band from Montreal have been around, but who the fuck cares when they release a debut album like this one. ‘I Know The Future’ might only be the title, but if going by this album and it’s all round sound and feel, this might be a band that actually have seen their future and are now playing to their full potential. For those of you that have had the pleasure of listening The Donnas, or even the The Distillers, then you’re on the right track when you hit play on this band. Melodic gritty punk rock, with a vocal that’s stand out unique. Although we are quick to attribute likeness to other bands, and I’ve just done exactly that, it’s only a way of giving the reader a sense of where its at, and with this band, that’s all it is, a nod to other sounds. But to be totally honest, this album and music is of its own, take the open and title track ‘I Know The Future’, it’s a punk rock melodic banger, with the emphasis on the “Rock”.

The Lookout

If your one for pure Rock n Roll, Joan Jett style, then I’m sure you’ll be dancing down the local bar to this on the jukebox in years to come, ‘We Got You’ is one of those exact tracks, its a future classic from the get go, a tune that’ll have you hitting replay more times than are good for you. ‘Silvertrack’ is another one of those, hints of something tracks, a female fronted Motorhead kind of feel to it, which is without doubt, worth shouting about! What the album definitely lacks is a time time sit back and take a breath, it hurtles at you likes it’s leapt out of an airplane without a parachute, the adrenaline never stops coming, every song is full throttle and with no excuses. ‘Woah Oh’ kicks in like a Misfits banger, but has so much more angst and energy to the vocal onslaught. Then to finish the fire and brimstone of ‘Le Monstre’ explodes across the earth like an unstoppable lava flow.

This is a band and album that will stay with every single person that hears it for a very long time, but most of all, its an album that rocks the fuck out of your ears and brain for the full ten songs, it never lets up for a split second. The Lookout’s future, has already been written with this album!
