Escape Route - Its Alive Records
Yes it’s been out nearly a month, but here at the Punk Site we pride ourselves in not missing out totally on things that never reached us in tome, yet definitely deserve more than just a moment of our time and yours, so to this end, we bring you Up For Nothing and their first album in six years ‘Escape Route’, which takes the band back to where they left off, but with a huge step forward too. Music that throws you along like a bowling ball with a jet engine attached, smashing everything in its way, songs that last no longer than it takes you to down a shot! (well maybe 2 or 3 in our circles).

We open with ‘Incoherent’ and why not?, a Rancid on acid song, pure riftastic hooks and ear worms a plenty, followed by ‘Sick Of World’, which they clearly aren’t, well how could you be when there’s music out there like this, yes the lyrics say one thing, but the music says otherwise, powerful glad to be here and fight music.
With in no time at all your right there in the middle of track 3 and title song ‘Escape Route’ which again snaps out some Punk Rock n Roll like it was going out of fashion, never mind all the shit that’s going on, lets just play music and put the world to rights right here and now!, that is what your getting here.
Theres always so much to be said about bands like Up For Nothing, they play like Green Day, Bouncing Souls and Rancid, yet they do it in a way that never gets tiresome at all, two minute blast of earth moving or just simply ground shaking music that don’t pat themselves on the back to much. Take ‘Mistakes’, ‘Pinched Nerves’ or ‘Sooner Or later’, all bang out riffs hooks and lyrics that stick, songs that stay with you, even though they’re not around for long in your ear.
This review was only going to last as long as this album, and end with you wondering did I actually even read this, “oh what the hell, let’s go read that it all again”, like the album makes you wanna go listen all over again.
Pure Punk Rock n Roll and nothing other than that!
