Getting Dumber Drop New Single & Video “A Love So Little”
Perth clock-rockers Getting Dumber are back with a fresh wad of chewed up 'n' spat out bubblegum punk! Recorded, mixed and mastered…
LA’s Mermaid Island have released their self-titled debut full length on vinyl via Anxious and Angry Records and digitally through No Dad Records, the album arrives alongside a brand new video for Freaks. The band have been brewing chaos in the underground LA punk scene since fall of 2022, founded by Canadian vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Alex MacDonald they blends high-energy punk rock with early 2000s pop-punk, east-coast Canadian influences, melodic vocals, and folk-tinged chord progressions. Their self-titled debut is a cutting, fearless, brutally honest document from a band who built their presence on stage before ever setting foot in a studio. Tracking most of the record live off the floor in two days, they preserved the magnetic energy that defines their intimate and chaotic live shows. Tearing through themes of self-destruction, alienation, nihilism, addiction, escapism, bodily autonomy, and feminine rage, Mermaid Island deliver the unapologetic urgency of a band with something to say.
“We recorded most of it in two days. We just wanted to have something tangible so that we could play more shows. We had already been playing around LA for a couple years, so we just recorded our set list. But the record has taken on a life of its own and it’s been insane to see how far it’s reaching, across the country and around the world.”
