On the eve on their May 2026 European Tour, NYC's SHEER TERROR have released their new single, Squat Diddler, that…
Nieuw punk rockers Real Farmer have released their debut album, Compare What’s There, through the Strap Originals label. Hailing from the North Dutch city of Groningen, Real Farmer have blazed an exhilarating trail from the pubs and bars of their hometown to the highways and byways of Europe. As active members of the vibrant local music scene with their wonderfully infectious punk noise, Real Farmer’s debut album finds the band concocting fast-paced, driving songs with wiry riffs, propelling drums, and winding melodies. Each track stands on its own, both expressing a nostalgia for a different time and reflecting the time and place the songs were written in, showing the multifaceted personalities that make up Real Farmer.
“Writing this album has been a most cathartic experience. Our intention was to be more open and vulnerable in writing the songs. There’s a lot of pent-up frustration and anger, tangible in songs such as ‘The Feeding’ and ‘The Straightest Line’, but also resilience and anticipation, more present in ‘Perry Boys’ and ‘Inner City’. There were no rules during the writing and recording sessions, a kind of unspoken agreement that we would not try to write in a specific way or mode, but to see where things would go, with the exception of a rule being not to overcomplicate things. This gave a lot of room in how we wrote songs and also caused the songs to change before reaching their final state. Every song has its own sense of drive, sometimes it’s filled with ominous melodies and dynamic drums, other times more straightforward and in your face. We hope you’ll enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it. Onto the second album!”
