Proto-punk icons Slaughter & The Dogs are set to embark on a new chapter of their long and influential career with a brand-new album, White Heat, which is set to be released September 4th via Cadiz Music. Originally formed in 1975 in Wythenshawe, a notoriously rough council estate in Manchester, Slaughter and the Dogs name was inspired by legendary David Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson‘s 1974 solo album Slaughter On The 10th Avenue and Bowie’s own Diamond Dogs album from the same year, showing exactly where the band were coming from in that pre-punk era in Britain. They quickly went on to support the Sex Pistols at their infamous Manchester Free Trade Hall gig in 1976 and the rest, as they say, is history. White Heat demonstrates that none of the band’s power has dimmed in the decades that have passed since. Featuring twelve new songs written by guitarist and founding member Mick Rossi, White Heat ignites a new chapter for Slaughter & The Dogs that honours their punk rock roots, while unleashing a fresh intensity that packs a sonic punch, propelling the dogs into 2026.

The album’s title refers to the extreme physical temperature when a substance glows and emits white heat, a perfect metaphor and album title for the highest possible stage in intensity, whether emotional, physical or creative; everything Slaughter & The Dogs strived for on this album. Founding members Mick Rossi and Howard Bates, alongside core member Phil Rowland, have aggressively pursued a new era for the band, successfully expanding their punk pedigree while keeping their sonic DNA intact. Recorded at the famed Winslow Ct. Studios in Los Angeles with some guest musicians that include Billy Duffy (The Cult), Morgan Fisher (Mott The Hoople / Queen), Jerry Evans (Mick Rossi’s Gun St / The Duellists), the production team of Mick Rossi and Craig Parker Adams is a winning combination and a partnership that has produced over ten albums together. White Heat is an album for the now, an anthem, a call to truth and an honest record.

“We were kids from a pretty rough and rowdy council estate in Wythenshawe, Manchester, looking for a way out. Back then, it was all about our street and the gang of kids we ran with, mischief making, random fights, petty crimes were all part of a day in the life of a Wythenshawe kid. And then it happened…. I saw David Bowie performing Starman on Tops of the Pops. And boy was my world blown. Watching Bowie perform had such a profound effect on my life, it literally changed my life. I discovered the power and freedom that Music had to offer me. I discovered what a guitar could do when in the hands of the enduring legend that was Mick Ronson and I wanted that, that ethereal exchange between artist, music and audience, so hard to define but so magical when it happens. I wanted to be just like Ronno. My mam, who had no money at all, bought me an acoustic guitar for 6 quid from a junk shop in Moss Side. My Mam was an amazing woman. (Today that same guitar hangs in the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas) I was on my way. A whole new world opened up… Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, The New York Dolls, The Faces, Roxy Music, Mott the Hoople and so many more… The next logical step was to form a band with my school mates. Slaughter & The Dogs were born! Street rock ‘n’ rollers with attitude, we played all the dive bars and labour clubs that the North of England had to offer, that was our training ground, up and down highways and byways in a shitty transit van.”

“And then in the summer of ’76 the world exploded with the arrival of Punk Rock. Things moved fast, Slaughter & The Dogs played with The Sex Pistols at the Free Trade Hall, in Manchester. One of the most important gigs in the history of music. Our 1st single Cranked Up Really high was released on Rabid Records to wide critical acclaim, produced by the legendary Martin Hannett. Do It Dog Style our 1st album debuted on Decca Records and featured none other than my hero Mick Ronson, who guested on 2 tracks. On Bite Back, our 2nd album, we were produced by none other than Mott the Hoople’s extraordinary drummer Dale Griffin, featuring keyboard genius Morgan Fisher (Mott and Queen) Slaughter & The Dogs went on to enjoy multiple world tours, many music festivals and recorded several albums. In the ever shifting sands of what the music industry has become today, Slaughter and the Dogs are proud to announce they have a new album titled White Heat debuting on Cadiz Records in the summer of 2026 featuring founding members Mick Rossi on vocals and guitars, Howard Bates on bass and core member Phil Rowland on Drums. White Heat represents the highest possible stage of intensity whether emotional, physical or creative. Everything we have strived for and were inspired by is on this album. We laid it all on the line. White Heat features 12 original songs written by Mick Rossi and ignites a new chapter for Slaughter & The Dogs that honours their punk rock roots while unleashing a fresh intensity that packs a sonic punch propelling the dogs into 2026 and beyond.” (Mick Rossi)
