Feminist feral theatre-punks Twat Union have revealed the official video for their new single and fan-favourite track, Period Sex, that is taken from the band’s latest EP, Don’t Blame The Peach, which was released earlier this year via Alcopop! Records. The release comes ahead of two appearances at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK with the band playing the Rough Trade Recommends showcase on 14th May at Charles Street Tap and The Independent‘s stage on 15th May at Daltons. Twat Union will also be bringing their notoriously raucous theatrical live show to stages at 2000 Trees, Back Doune The Rabbit Hole, TRUCK Festival and more this summer.

“Period Sex” is the song our fans have been asking us to drop for ages, so here it is, out in the wild at last. It’s become a bit of a litmus test live: the second it starts, you can feel who’s with us and who’s…not. That’s usually when the energy in the room tips into something a little more feral. Early gigs? Let’s just say it inspired a few swift exits. It’s a true story, and a tribute to that chaotic inner monologue that kicks in when you’re dating someone new who you really like and something a bit ‘human’ happens and you get embarrassed. You know the spiral. But it’s also us leaning into something we still don’t talk about nearly enough: menstruation. Because somehow, period sex still gets treated like a taboo, hush-hush concept, when really… it’s just part of being human. Whether you’re into it or firmly not, it exists. So we made a song about it. Ideally, it makes you laugh, maybe chant along, and possibly question why this perfectly normal thing ever got such a weird reputation in the first place. The song is being released along with a whodunit music video to unpick the true mystery of the song: who moved the towel?” (vocalist Kate Mac)
